CLINICAL SUPERVISION

Supervision Philosophy

As a clinician I primarily work with underserved populations specifically people of color in urban areas who have limited resources and knowledge about mental health treatment and the intricacies related to navigating the mental health system. I find this to be a sense of servitude and a way to give back to my community. As a supervisor my clinical orientation is a combination of person centered model, psychodynamic theory, systems theory with solution-focused techniques. As a supervisor it is necessary for me to emphasize the importance of a client’s self determination and self care for the supervisee in an effort to prevent burnout. This framework will allow the supervisee to not only empower clients but to understand the client as the expert of their life. Some key components of supervision include case review, ethical issues, professional development, reviewing diagnosis with the Synopsis of Psychiatry textbook, identifying and managing countertransference, reviewing interventions and therapeutic techniques and generalized venting.

  • $75 per hour (Telehealth currently)

  • Sliding scale is available based on the individual's household income and at the discretion of the therapist.
